Thirsty Thursday Needs YOU!

The bar at Piekny Pies ("Beautiful Dog") in Krakow, Poland. Pies has a reputation for hell-raising which stems partly from its eviction from its previous home, next door to a deaf school who complained about the noise.

This is an unashamed round-robin to get you all to come to Fasika, Kabalagala, at 7.30 on Thursday for the inaugural Kampala meeting of the Thirsty Thursday club. This is something a group of photo students used to do at my university. We would sit, eat, drink and chat about what we were working on. It was also a welcome space to vent gear frustrations, ask geeky questions and just generally say everything which our housemates didn’t want to listen to.

My hope is that this sort of regular meeting will lead to better creative discussion, more sharing of ideas and opportunities and, most importantly, some sort of camaraderie between a group of people who generally end up a little isolated from each other just because that’s the nature of the job. I hope that down the road we can organise exhibitions and actually make a bit of a regular meeting. Please do come along, and join the Facebook group if that’s what you’re into. Please also forward this post to anybody who you think might be interested in attending.

I’m pretty sure we mostly listened to cockney songs and national anthems before piling the entire contents of your room on top of you when you were sleeping.
