A long time ago I worked on a project for USAID named ‘A New Dawn’. If you look back to the early days of this blog it was all I ever talked about. And then it finished and I had to get a real job. Not that the USAID gig wasn’t a real job, but it felt so fun and interesting it was always hard to believe I was getting paid for it.
Fast forward two years, I’m a little fatter and my beard has gone bonkers. I’m not ashamed to say it. But I was in Kitgum for a story and we paid a visit to the LC5 (district chairperson), who is lovely. Suddenly Andrew points out something to me. I look, and there it is:

Beside the darts trophies was the ‘A New Dawn’ book I worked on when I was with USAID/NUTI. It’s so good to see that it’s being read- this copy was amazingly well-thumbed.
